“When they talk about the need to support rural education, then, first of all, it is necessary to raise hub schools. In the Law “On Education” there is a concept of “hub schools”, but in fact no one was engaged in the creation and development of hub schools. Last year, we created 17 rural hub schools in 17 regions together with the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education. We have completely updated the material and technical base according to the NIS standard, analyzed the school, trained teachers and the administration of the educational institution. For three years, our partners will conduct methodological support. Thus, we have changed approaches to the educational process, introduced new educational technologies. Now we are continuing work on the creation of 63 more rural hub schools in 17 regions,” Bolat Zhamishev, the Chairman of the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Fund said.
A professional development program based on Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools has been launched for the teaching staff and school management. Intensive courses on modern techniques and teaching methods will be held by teachers for 5-6 months, followed by three years of methodological support for the entire school.
By the end of the year, 6 more schools of the Karaganda region will become hub ones. Akim of Karaganda region thanked partners for their contribution to rural education:

“Today is the beginning of a new chapter for this school and the whole district. We believe that education is the key to a successful future, and our hub school will serve as an example of quality education for the entire region. Thank you for your support and cooperation,” Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, the Akim of Karaganda region said.
The school in Osakarovka became the third of the 63 schools that were presented this year. Thus, the project partners continue to implement the strategy to create a network of hub schools in Kazakhstan.
“I would like to note that the project is aimed at improving the quality of education, introducing the best pedagogical practices and techniques, as well as providing the necessary material and technical base for hub schools. Once we started the project “Powered by NIS” on the development of hub schools with several schools in East Kazakhstan region and Akmola region, and today 80 rural schools across Kazakhstan in 2022 and 2023 are included in a joint project with the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Fund. These are thousands of schoolchildren and teachers who will receive new school equipment and general methodology. Every child, no matter a resident of a village or the capital, deserves to receive a quality education that will contribute to his personal and professional growth, which means that in the future he will be able to contribute to the sustainable development of our country,” Xeniya Verba, the Head of the Aitas Foundation says.
The project “Development of the Potential of Hub Schools in Rural Areas” is implemented jointly by the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Fund, the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools AEO with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
