As part of the Jaña Dala / Green Day 2024 international exhibition demonstration, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Fund for Sustainable Development of Bulandy district, organized a seminar for farmers of the district.
Over the course of two days, more than 30 farmers in the region were shown successful cases of pesticide lifecycle control and recycling. FAO experts spoke about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for plants. This FAO tool allows to control the spread of dangerous and quarantine pests, promote the production of environmentally friendly and competitive agricultural products and reduce the consumption of pesticides. IPM methods are widely used in many countries to preserve soil purity, protect biodiversity and public health.

Saltanat Bayeshova, the National Project Manager of FAO Kazakhstan, noted the effectiveness of these methods:
“We have conducted tests on integrated pest protection of plants and obtained impressive results. They have shown that the use of pesticides can be significantly reduced if combined with biological protection methods. The most important task now is to disseminate these results so that farmers realize not only the environmental safety of this method, but also its economic effectiveness. It is for this purpose that we conduct trainings for farmers.”
The Fund for Sustainable Development of Bulandy district intends to broadcast the experience of FAO in the region. Daniyar Nurpeissov, the Fund Head told about this:
“Our goal was to bring together local agricultural entrepreneurs to develop and build the architecture of the cluster. We are confident that international support and experience will be extremely useful for the agricultural enterprises of the region.”
